Collection and drop-off

Large parcel collection

Parcelforce and UPS offer same-day collection for large parcels in many urban areas. Some carriers need a day's notice to dispatch a tail-lift vehicle if required.

Large parcel drop-off

Most carriers don't accept drop-offs over 20kg. Selected Post Offices take the Parcelforce 48 large service, or you can drop at the local carrier depot if you're in a hurry.

Pallet delivery

Palletised items arrive on a tail-lift vehicle. The driver may not have a pump truck, so the receiver may need to help unload, or remove the shrink wrap and break the pallet down.

Ship large items with confidence

Big shipments face vibration, stacking and multiple handling points in transit. A little preparation keeps yours protected, and claimable.

Double-box and fill voids for oversize items; palletise anything heavy and strap it in both directions. Enter pallet dimensions at booking. Have someone on hand to help the driver load and unload.

Not recommended: furniture, large fragile items with glass, and ceramics or porcelain, unless professionally packaged and palletised.

Packaging DON’TS

Do not re-use an old box

If you do, the strength can be compromised.

Do not leave any straps exposed

They could catch on sortation equipment and cause damage.

Do not overpack the box

If you overpack, you weaken the box, and it can easily burst when other boxes are placed on top of it.

Do not let anything stick out of the box

If anything is sticking out, or even touching the walls of the box, you will be unable to claim if any damage occurs.
