Australian customs
When countries allow low value goods to enter the country duty free, this is called a de minimis threshold. The De minimis value for goods entering Australia is $1,000 AUD. Shipments below $1,000 AUD are likely to not incur any import duty or tax, and clearance will be faster, so it’s a win-win, but remember the value you enter always needs to be accurate, otherwise you risk the goods being held up in customs.
Sending food to Australia
Because Australia has such a huge agricultural industry, there are stricter rules around sending food, to protect against alien plants or insects accidently being introduced.
