UK drop-off shops
We offer convenient drop-off locations across the UK through DPD, UPS, Parcelforce and EVRi. If you booked a collection service, you can still choose to drop off at a drop shop or at the local courier depot, track your parcel to get started.
Importing low value items into the UK
Goods imported into the UK with a value of £135 or less are considered low value consignments. These items are not subject to customs duty, but VAT is still payable.
In most cases, VAT is collected by the seller or online marketplace at the point of sale, rather than when the parcel arrives in the UK. The standard UK VAT rate is 20%, although some goods may qualify for reduced or zero VAT rates depending on the product type.
If VAT has not been collected before the item reaches the UK, the delivery carrier may request payment before delivery.
Importing items over £135 into the UK
Goods imported into the UK with a value over £135 may be subject to import VAT and customs duty. Import VAT is usually charged at the standard UK rate of 20%, although some goods may qualify for reduced or zero VAT rates depending on the product type.
Customs duty may also apply depending on the type of goods and their country of origin. To estimate any charges that may apply, you can check the relevant tariff code using the UK Government’s tariff lookup tool.
If import charges are due, the delivery carrier will usually contact the recipient before delivery to arrange payment.
Clearance charges for dutiable shipments
When goods imported into the UK are subject to customs duty or import VAT, the delivery carrier will usually complete the customs clearance process on behalf of the recipient. Carriers typically charge a customs clearance or handling fee for this service.
The exact fee and how it is calculated can vary between carriers and may depend on the value of the shipment or the amount of duty and VAT due. If charges apply, the carrier will normally contact the recipient before delivery to arrange payment.
