How much tax will the receiver have to pay?
Customs duties and taxes are applied by the destination country’s customs authority, not by us.
How customs charges are calculated
The value declared on your customs invoice determines whether duty or tax applies
The reason for sending (sale, gift, or personal effects) may influence the rate or exemption level
The final amount is confirmed only once your parcel reaches the destination country
These charges are separate from your shipping costs and must be paid before delivery.
Some destinations offer exemptions for low-value items, personal belongings, or gifts — typically around £50, though this varies by country.
If the recipient believes the charge is incorrect, they can query it with the local courier or customs office.
If you wish to cover the charges yourself, we can arrange this for a £25 + VAT administration fee — please contact us before delivery is attempted.
You can find more details for your specific destination on our Country Information pages.
