Using a SAD form
A SAD form — short for Single Administrative Document — is a customs document used in international trade. In the UK, it’s also known as a C88 form.
The SAD is required when manual customs clearance is needed, typically if electronic systems fail or if your shipment must be processed outside of automated systems.
How to use it
If customs request a SAD, make sure it is:
Fully completed and accurate
Included with your customs paperwork
Consistent with your commercial or pro forma invoice
While most shipments clear electronically, completing this form correctly ensures your goods are processed without unnecessary delays.
